Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a statement.
Officers report they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.
Police then located numerous other marked automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials say initial examinations indicate the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; authorities are presently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the community for details.
An important political figure commented the incident made him speechless and had to be solved promptly.
"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on online, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a gunman targeting people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
